Riding the wave of success: the role of trans-national diffusion mechanisms in the development of far right parties
2018
ABSTRACTThe far right party (FRP) literature is quite variable-oriented and often undervalues the dynamics that motivate FRP development. Previous research describes the implausibility of developme...
Evaluation des simulations spatiales
2006
The general topic is the evaluation of prospective scenarios for urban planning, especially for the management of urban built up areas. Several models of land-use and land-cover change (LUCC), based on different assumptions, allow producing realistic simulations of urban growth. Three ways can be distinguished for measuring the quality of modelings: 1. The choice of a model and its calibration; 2. The validation (showing if results are realistic); 3. The evaluation (showing if results respect defined planning goals). Measurement methods must be associated to these three steps.
Theorising about barriers to open e-learning systems in public administrations
2018
Abstract Barriers to the general use of e-learning technology are known across various contexts. Despite increasing efforts to clarify the range of these barriers, few efforts have been made to advance the theorising about them and, thus, to answer why and how they unfold. This study is motivated to overcome this unaddressed problem and develops a process model based on adaptive structuration theory (AST) and the punctuated socio-technical change model (PSIC). It represents how barriers unfold between actors, technology, and organisational properties in public administrations. The PaSIC model provides a new perspective on how critical incidents drive the emergence and progress of barriers t…
Ohjaajien toiminta elintapamuutosten tukemisessa tyypin 2 diabeteksen ehkäisyn ryhmäohjauksessa
2016
The purpose of the study was to describe the supervisors’ action in the support of changing one’s living habits in two weight management groups in the type 2 diabetes prevention program. The data consists of 17 video-recorded 90-minute “Small decision a day” weight management group counselling sessions of two groups with 10 and 20 participants in the years 2004-2005. The supervisors’ talk was analyzed with the deductive analysis from five teaching perspectives including theirs beliefs, intentions and actions. The transtheoretical change model and the participants’ talk were analyzed with the inductive analysis. Quantitative methods were used to give more information about the counselling se…
ChemInform Abstract: Cobalt Clusters with Cubane-Type Topologies Based on Trivacant Polyoxometalate Ligands.
2016
Four novel cobalt-substituted polyoxometalates having cobalt cores exhibiting cubane or dicubane topologies have been synthesized and characterized by IR, elemental analysis, electrochemistry, UV–vis spectroscopy, X-ray single-crystal analysis, and magnetic studies. The tetracobalt(II)-substituted polyoxometalate [Co4(OH)3(H2O)6(PW9O34)]4– (1) consists of a trilacunary [B-α-PW9O34]9– unit which accommodates a cubane-like {CoII4O4} core. In the heptacobalt(II,III)-containing polyoxometalates [Co7(OH)6(H2O)6(PW9O34)2]9– (2), [Co7(OH)6(H2O)4(PW9O34)2]n9n– (3), and [Co7(OH)6(H2O)6(P2W15O56)2]15– (4), dicubane-like {CoII6CoIIIO8} cores are encapsulated between two heptadentate [B-α-PW9O34]9– (in…
Let's Talk Biology – Developing a Model for Incorporating English-Speaking Experts into the (Bilingual) Science Classroom
2019
We present an instructional approach to incorporate into biology lessons an exchange of videos between international practicing scientists and secondary-school students. We validated the approach in German school settings in three curricular contexts: genetics, cell biology, and immunology. The participating students (n = 255) were native speakers of German with a background of English as a foreign language. The three participating scientists, English-speaking experts from the United Kingdom and Uganda, were rooted in different fields that were related to the respective curricular topics. We explain how the video exchange model was developed and evaluate students' comments and suggestions f…
Modeling Changes for SHOIN(D) Ontologies: An Exhaustive Structural Model
2013
Ontology development starts with a rigorous ontological analysis that provides a conceptualization of the domain to model agreed by the community. An ontology, specified in a formal language, approximates the intended models of this conceptualization. It needs then to be revised and refined until an ontological commitment is found. Also ulterior updates, responding to changes in the domain and/or the conceptualization, are expected to occur throughout the ontology life cycle. To handle a consistent application of changes, a couple of ontology evolution methodologies have been proposed. Maintaining the structural consistency is one of the ontology evolution criteria. It implies modeling chan…
Reciprocal relations between autonomous motivation from self-determination theory and social cognition constructs from the theory of planned behavior…
2020
Objectives The present study examined reciprocal relations between autonomous motivation from self-determination theory (SDT) and constructs from the theory of planned behavior (TPB) in a sport injury context. Methods The study adopted a three-wave longitudinal cross-lagged panel design. Physical education students in China (N = 4414; Mage = 14.42, SD = 1.75) completed self-report measures of autonomous motivation, attitude, subjective norm, and perceived behavioral control with respect to sport injury prevention at baseline (T1) and at two follow-up occasions one (T2) and three (T3) months later. Proposed reciprocal relations between autonomous motivation and the TPB constructs controlling…
NMR relaxation in modern wood and treated and untreated wood from a XVI century wooden statue
2007
Longitudinal (T1) relaxation data are presented for European lime (Tilia cordata Mill) wood samples, a modern sample and two from a XVI century wooden statue, one of which samples is treated with Paraloid B72 for preservation. The 1H signals from liquid and solid are separated in the free induction decays (FID). T1 distributions are obtained by UPEN and show two resolved peaks for the liquid component of either untreated wood but a wide distribution for the liquid of the treated sample. In each case, the solid component showed a single peak, which for either untreated sample was at about the position of the longer T1 liquid peak. We compute geometric-mean times, T1-gm, 2.1 and 36 ms for the…
A Meta-Conceptual Modeling Approach for Change Modeling in Applied Ontology
2016
International audience; Formal ontologies are explicitly representation of domain knowledge. Ontology change management should ensure maintaining its consistency, so that its users can continue to cooperate and understand each other. This paper presents a meta-conceptual modeling approach for change modeling in the domain of applied ontology. This modeling approach makes use a mathematical structure to model ontologies and its changes in order to make possible the qualification of changes regarding its consistency. Actually, the paper focuses on the meta-conceptual modeling approach inspired by Guarino's formal ontology building process.
